The month of September’2004 marked one of the most scintillating events for Leo Club of Calcutta, Park Avenue. In the History of Leo Club, never an event of such personification took place. 24th September’ 2004 was the day which changed the Life of a 14 years old under privileged teenage girl and provided her an opportunity to live a normal life. This event took Park Avenue in the record books of Leoism. With the efforts of our members we raised an amount of Rs.68, 000/= which was the cost of treatment. No Leo Club (International District 322B1) for such a cause has individually raised such an amount.
Not only was the event covered by Media (TAZAA KHABAR & CHHAPTE CHHAPTE) but was also acknowledged by our very own Governor Honorable Shri Viren J. Shah and Honorable Chief Minister Shri Buddhadeb Bhattacharya.
Under the project “ LIVE A HEALTHY LIFE” the members of Park Avenue with the help of Doctors like Padmashree awarded Dr. Devi Shetty, Dr. Ravi Kishore and other Eminent Doctors, treated Miss Antara Ghosh (14 years) at Rabindra Nath Tagore International Institute of Cardiological Sciences,who was suffering from Recurrent Episodes of Supraventricular Tachycardia which was once an incurable disease. We look forward to many such programmes in future and surely will try to make a difference in others life.
On behalf of all the members of Park Avenue we thank every individual who is associated with the programme and seek the blessings of our well wishers.
Our regular Projects include service projects, fellowship programs and self-development programs. Our service projects includes helping the orphans, blood donation, eye check up camps including eye operations. In terms of fellowship programs we have decided to organize a fellowship night each month with other Leo clubs and lions members as well which help us to share our ideas and opinions regarding the better performance our duties as a part of the Leo movement. We are also engaged in organizing various competitions and other programs for the self-development of the Leo members.
